The roll of the waves is like some sweet melody filtered by the rain and pebbles,
I listen, I pause, I watch them roll in unison. it moves like a pulsing meadow, all at once then one by one, tainted by the drag of the moon and by the soft call of the icy wind - like it's drawn to its graceful tug. The rhythmic beating of its thrumming heart haunts me, the reverberation like a ballad inside my head, it never ends. Its monotonous tone continuous forever: like space but its tune is sweeter, far more illustrious than the echoing white noise and its own droning tunes. I halt, I sit still, I wait for the inevitable, for the pitch of the howling wind behind me, the baritone deeper than most; like a chorus of dark angels gathered around my shoulders at my command. The waves roll on in its soporific way, cleansing my soul one scar at a time. I'm alive. We're alive. The sea swallows us whole.

You could have the ocean
every wave that crashes down, you could have every shell that decorates the beach each beautiful in their own way and I try to avoid them to not dim their shimmery surfaces with my dark rock, because you might take a liking to them, and who am I to stop you from leaving, a stationary rock pool of where you momentarily stay, I’m still in shock still terrified of the cliff drop sometimes unable to think unable to breathe Because you, an ocean in yourself, splashed your waves upon my shores, and filtered in, making my rock pool the sea and my heart meld tightly Iike entwined coral with yours. --> Well as a first poem to post on here I guess it's as good as any, honestly this is about someone close to me and silly as it may seem I have a lot of feelings, aha, and it's difficult to not be overwhelmed by them, thus poetry like this becomes the overflow. This is meant to be a happy poem, but I'm very self deprecating hence its somewhat harsh tone towards the speaker. Confidence was never my strong suit so showing how I might feel through poetry is the best way for me, otherwise I freeze like a deer in headlights and end up saying something stupid and completely nonsensical. So yeah. <-- |
